The Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) provides water for more than 1,000,000 people living in Boston, Massachusetts and surrounding communities. Formed in 1977 to replace several government agencies, the BWSC purchases water from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, which collects its water from the Quabbin and Wachusett Reservoirs and also the Ware River.
