The City of Medford Water Department provides water for about 57,000 residents living in the area of Medford, Massachusetts. Established in 1892 the City of Medford Water Department is currently obtaining its supply via purchase directly from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA), a public water and sewer services wholesaler, which comes from surface water sources: Quabbin and Wachusett Reservoirs. Water from Ware River can also add to the supply when the demand arises.

WaterZen Rating

Lead levels in the drinking water of some cities across the United States are too high, potentially creating public-health issues for the people living in those areas.

What about Medford Water? How much lead is in your drinking water? And how do those levels compare to other cities in the state? We examined data from hundreds of cities across the nation to understand and grade your water quality.

As you can see, Medford Water received an average grade because the amounts of contaminants found in the water supply were higher than most other water providers we've analyzed.
