The Southborough Water Department, a public community water system under the Water Division of the Department of Public Works, provides water to about 10,392 residents living in Southborough, a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts. Founded in 1727, the Southborough Water Department System purchases its supply from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). MWRA obtains its supply from Quabbin Reservoir, 65 miles from Boston, and Wachusett Reservoir, 35 miles from Boston. Additionally, as the need arises, the Ware River augments the water supply.
