The City of Vancouver Water, under the City Public Works Department, provides water for about 248,000 residents living in the Vancouver area. Established in 1825, the City of Vancouver Water collects 100 percent of its supply from groundwater sources, the underground aquifers beneath the City area – the Orchards, Troutdale, and the Sand-and-Gravel Aquifers.
