Belle Vernon has multiple water providers: Washington Township Municipal Authority and Belle Vernon Municipal Authority. This page provides information about Belle Vernon Municipal Authority.
The Belle Vernon Borough Municipal Authority provides water services to about 6,000 residents of Belle Vernon, North Belle Vernon Borough, and parts of Rostraver and Washington Township, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1894, Belle Vernon Borough Municipal Authority purchases water from the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County, which is withdrawn from the Youghiogheny River and treated by the Indian Creek Water Treatment Plant. The water is disinfected with chlorine, and in the Summertime, chlorine is combined with ammonia to reduce the chlorine taste and odor due to the warm temperature.
