The City of Calistoga Water supplies water to about 5,610 residents living in the Calistoga area of Napa County. The City of Calistoga Water Department operates a water reservoir, the Kimball Reservoir, from which water is pumped to its conventional surface water treatment plant, which treats water through chemical coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, chlorination, and filtration processes to improve its quality. The treated water is stored in a 100,000-gallon Clearwell and distributed to the customers. Up to 70% of the Calistoga water is purchased from the City of Napa, which draws from Barker Slough in the Sacramento Delta via the North Bay Aqueduct, Lake Hennessey, and Lake Milliken. The water from these sources may be treated by the Edward I. Barwick Jamieson Canyon Water Treatment Plant, the Hennessey Water Treatment Plant, or the Milliken Water Treatment Plant. The City's water has a hardness of 105 mg/l.
