The Fullerton Water, under the City Public Works Department, provides water for about 142,234 residents living in the Fullerton area. Established in 1887, the Fullerton Water collects groundwater from the Orange County groundwater basin, and surface water imported by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD), which water is a blend of State Water Project water from northern California and water from the Colorado River Aqueduct.
