Compton has multiple water providers: Golden State Water - Southwest, Compton Water, and Sativa Water, view all. This page provides information about Compton Water.
The City of Compton Water, under the City Department of Municipal Utilities, provides water for about 79,898 residents living in the area of Compton City, California. Established in 1888, the City of Compton Water currently obtains its supply from a combination of sources: mostly groundwater from the Central Basin beneath Los Angeles County; and surface water imported by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). MWD’s imported water sources are a blend of State Water Project water from Northern California and water from the Colorado River Aqueduct.Compton City Drinking Water Quality
