The City of Compton Water, under the City Department of Municipal Utilities, provides water for about 79,898 residents living in the area of Compton City, California. Established in 1888, the City of Compton Water currently obtains its supply from a combination of sources: mostly groundwater from the Central Basin beneath Los Angeles County; and surface water imported by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). MWD’s imported water sources are a blend of State Water Project water from Northern California and water from the Colorado River Aqueduct.

Lead Report (2016)

A

WaterZen Rating

Lead levels in the drinking water of some cities across the United States are too high, potentially creating public-health issues for the people living in those areas.

What about Compton Water? How much lead is in your drinking water? And how do those levels compare to other cities in the state? We examined data from hundreds of cities across the nation to understand and grade your water quality.

As you can see, Compton Water received the best-possible grade because the amounts of contaminants found in the water supply were better than the Public Health Goal and most other water providers we've analyzed.
