The City of Cupertino Water, a public community water system under the /City/ Department of Public Works, provides water for about 16,530 residents living in the area of Cupertino, a city in Santa Clara County, California. Established in 1955, the City of Cupertino Water System currently obtains its supply from surface water sources, primarily Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD) Imported Surface Water. SCVWD uses water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. Often called “imported water”, it is brought into the City through the complex infrastructure of the State Water Project, the federal Central Valley Project and San Francisco’s Hetch Hetchy system.
