The City of Garden Water, under the City Public Utilities Department, provides water for about 26,895 residents living in the Garden City area, Kansas. Established in 1878, the City of Garden Water Department currently obtains its supply from a total of seventeen groundwater wells. All but three wells pump from the Ogallala Aquifer. The other wells pump water from the Dakota Sandstone Aquifer.
