The Holyoke Water Works, a public drinking water utility and municipal service agency, provides water for about 40,124 residents living in the Holyoke area. Established in 1872, the Holyoke Water Works' drinking water comes primarily from the Tighe-Carmody Reservoir in Southampton and is augmented by the McLean Reservoir in Holyoke using a transfer pump station located in the watershed of the Ashley Reservoir.
