The LA County Waterworks - District 40 Region 38, Lake Los Angeles, a division of Los Angeles County Public Works, provides water for about 13,830 residents living in the area of Lake Los Angeles, California. Established in 1993, the Los Angeles County Waterworks Districts (LACWD) 40, Antelope Valley, Regions 38 (Lake Los Angeles) Water System is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of sources: 64 percent is purchased treated surface water from the Antelope Valley-East Kern Water Agency (AVEK). AVEK gets its water from the Sacramento River/San Joaquin Delta via the State Water Project. The remaining 36 percent is groundwater extracted from District wells that pump from the Antelope Valley Groundwater Basin.
