The Town of Mattapoisett Water supplies water to about 7,685 residents living in the Mattapoisett area of Plymouth County. The Mattapoisett Water Department collects water from four municipal groundwater wells drilled into the Mattapoisett River Valley Aquifer. The wells include #6 Station Wellfield on Acushnet Road, #3 Station Gravel-packed Well on Hereford Hill Road, #4 Station Gravel-packed Well on Hereford Hill Road, and #5 Station Gravel-packed Well on Pumping Station Road, and are all located in the northwestern part of the Town. The Town of Mattapoisett Water Department obtains additional water from the Mattapoisett River Valley Water District Public Water Supply #4173001. The water from all sources is subjected to pH adjustment, corrosion control, ultrafiltration, and ozone treatment for iron and manganese removal.
