The Oildale Mutual Water Company, a private, not-for-profit corporation, provides water for about 34,133 residents living in the area of Oildale, California. Established in 1919, the Oildale Mutual Water Company currently obtains its supply via purchase of treated surface water from the Kern County Water Agency H.C. Garnett Water Purification Plant. The surface water comes from any of these sources: the Friant Kern Canal, California Aqueduct or Kern River. Groundwater is also pumped from wells for supplemental purposes whenever the demand arises.
