The City of Pittsfield Water System, a public community water system under the City Department of Public Utilities – Water Division, provides water for about 44,737 residents living in the area of area of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Established in 1761, the City of Pittsfield Water Department System is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of outside-the-City surface water sources: Cleveland and Sackett Reservoirs in the Town of Hinsdale; and Ashley Lake, Lower Ashley Intake, Farnham, and Sandwash Reservoirs in the Town of Washington.
