The Provincetown Water Department provides water for about 22,250 residents living in the Provincetown area. Established in 1727, the Provincetown Water Department collects water from a groundwater source consists of three well fields in the Pamet Lens of the Cape Cod Aquifer, namely, South Hollow Wellfield, the Knowles Crossing Wellfield, and the North Union Field when the demand arises.
