The Rancho California Water District (RCWD), provides water for about 127,845 residents living in the Temecula area. Established in 1964, the Rancho California Water collects from two primary sources of water: imported and local. RCWD’s imported water comes from Metropolitan Water District of Southern California while the local sources include surface water runoff into Vail Lake, groundwater from Temecula Valley, and recycled water.
