Town of Spencer Water, a public community water system under the local government, provides water to about 7,037 residents living in Spencer in Worcester County, Massachusetts. Founded in 1753, the Town of Spencer Water System currently obtains its supply from two groundwater sources: Meadow Road Well and Cranberry Brook Well. Meadow Road Well, a 70-foot-deep, gravel-packed well, was constructed in 1995 and can produce up to 1.7 million gallons of water per day. Consequently, Cranberry Brook Well is a 66-foot-deep, gravel-packed well that can pump up to 1.15 million gallons of water per day. Water from both wells is pumped into the Highland Street storage tank, a 500,000-gallon tank before it is transmitted to a 1.5-million-gallon storage tank located at the back of David Prouty High School.
