The Suburban Water – San Jose Hills, an investor-owned water utility and a part of SouthWest Water Company, provides water for about 171,182 residents living in the West Covina area, including portions of Walnut, Hacienda Heights, La Puente and City of Industry. Established in 1946, the Suburban Water - San Jose Hills collects water from its wells in the Main San Gabriel Groundwater Basin. Suburban also distributed treated groundwater from 1) La Puente Valley County Water District (LPVCWD) and Valley County Water District (VCWD); and 2) treated surface water from Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWDSC) and Covina Irrigating Company (CIC).
