The Town of Topsfield Water supplies water through 1,850 service connections to about 5,435 residents living in the Topsfield area of Essex County, Massachusetts. Founded in 1949, the Topsfield Water Department collects water from two groundwater wellfields and pumping stations at North Street and Perkins Row and delivers it to the Boston Street Water Treatment Plant. In addition to natural filtration, the water is treated through disinfection, pH adjustment, greensand filtration, aeration, fluoridation, and corrosion control processes to improve its quality before distribution. Two tanks are used for water storage, and the water is distributed across 50 miles of water mains.
