The KU-LC Public Water Distribution System (KUDS) provides water for about 35,000 residents living in the area of Lawrence, Kansas, particularly in the University of Kansas Lawrence Campus (KU-LC). Established in 1865, the University of Kansas Lawrence Campus Water Distribution System (KUDS) currently obtains its supply via purchase from the City of Lawrence, which uses surface water sources: the Kansas River and Clinton Lake. The City also operates six Kansas River alluvial wells occasionally when the demand arises.
