The Vallecitos Water District, an independent, special district provides water for about 103,233 residents living in the San Marcos area. Established in 1955, the Vallecitos Water District purchases supply by importing 73% from SDCWA (obtained from Northern California and the Colorado River via MWD), and  about 27% from local desalinated water through Carlsbad Claude “Bud” Lewis Desalination Plant.

Consumer Confidence Water Quality Reports

Under the authority of the Safe Drinking Water Act, the EPA requires Vallecitos Water District to assess local water quality each year and distribute a Consumer Confidence Water Quality Report.
