The Vista Irrigation District (VID), an independent special district, provides water for about 133,286 residents living in the Vista area. Established in 1923, the Vista Irrigation District collects water from a mix of sources, (1) Local Water Source - Lake Henshaw, (2) Imported Water Source - Colorado River Aqueduct, (3) Imported Water Sources: Oroville Dam & Reservoir, Bay Delta and California Aqueduct, and (4) Desalinated Seawater - Carlsbad Desalination Plant.
