The Bellwood Water Department, a public community water system under the Village Water, provides water for about 19,107 residents living in the area of Bellwood, Illinois. Established in 1900, the Bellwood Water Department System is currently obtaining its supply as purchased from the Village of Melrose Park which uses surface water from Lake Michigan. Bellwood also has emergency access to groundwater sources: wells that pump water from the Galesville and Mt. Simon Aquifers lying underneath the village area.
