The City of Countryside Water, a public community water system under the local government, provides water to about 5,895 residents living in Countryside, Illinois. Founded in 1960, the City of Countryside Water System currently purchases its supply from the Village of McCook. Consequently, the water was treated by the City of Chicago Jardine Water Purification Plant and pumped from Lake Michigan, and then Countryside received the water to the reservoir and pumping station complex, which was then distributed through the 30-mile-pipe water main grid system of the city to the local and retail customer bases.
