The City of De Kalb Water System, a public community water system under the City Department of Public Works - Utility Division, provides water for about 45,000 residents living in the area of De Kalb, Illinois. Established in 1856, the City of De Kalb Utility Division is currently obtaining its supply from groundwater sources: six deep wells that draw water from the Ironton-Galesville and St. Peter sandstone unit of the Cambrian-Ordovician aquifer, and three shallow wells that draw water from the Troy Valley Aquifer.

Lead Report (2019)

C

WaterZen Rating

Lead levels in the drinking water of some cities across the United States are too high, potentially creating public-health issues for the people living in those areas.

What about DeKalb Water? How much lead is in your drinking water? And how do those levels compare to other cities in the state? We examined data from hundreds of cities across the nation to understand and grade your water quality.

As you can see, DeKalb Water received an average grade because the amounts of contaminants found in the water supply were higher than most other water providers we've analyzed.
