The City of Oak Forest Water, under the City Public Works Department, provides water for about 27,962 residents living in the Oak Forest area, Illinois. Established in 1947, the City of Oak Forest Water Department currently obtains its supply via purchase of surface water from the Village of Oak Lawn. Oak Lawn, in turn, receives its water from the City of Chicago, which utilizes Lake Michigan as its source water.
