The Village of Wauconda Water, a public community water system under the Village Department of Public Works - Services, provides water for about 15,428 residents living in the area of Wauconda, a village in Lake County, Illinois. Established in 1849, the Wauconda Water System is currently obtaining its supply via purchase from the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency (CLCJAWA), an inter-governmental cooperative. CLCJAWA uses a surface water source, Lake Michigan. Additionally, the Village of Wauconda operates and maintains four backup wells for emergency purposes.

WaterZen Rating

Lead levels in the drinking water of some cities across the United States are too high, potentially creating public-health issues for the people living in those areas.

What about Wauconda Water? How much lead is in your drinking water? And how do those levels compare to other cities in the state? We examined data from hundreds of cities across the nation to understand and grade your water quality.

As you can see, Wauconda Water received an average grade because the amounts of contaminants found in the water supply were higher than most other water providers we've analyzed.
