The Madisonville Water, a public community water system under the City Department of Water & Gas, provides water for about 14,427 residents living in the area of Madisonville, a city in and the county seat of Monroe County, Tennessee. Established in 1822 and incorporated as a city in 1866, the Madisonville Water System currently obtains its supply through the purchase of treated surface water from the Tellico Area Services System (TASS), which utilizes the Tellico Lake/Reservoir and Little Tennessee River.
