The City of Alhambra Water, under the City Utilities Department, provides water for about 85,053 residents living in the Alhambra area, California. Established in 1903, the City of Alhambra collects of water from two primary sources: 70% comes from nine local groundwater wells from the Main San Gabriel Water Basin. The remaining 30% comes from a service connection with the Metropolitan Water District (MWD). The MWD water is surface water from the Colorado River and the State Water Project through the Weymouth Treatment Plant within the City of La Verne.
