Oceanside City Water Department
The City of Oceanside Water, under the City Water Utilities Department, provides water for about 176,461 residents living in the Oceanside area. Established in 1888, the City of Oceanside Water collects water from three sources: (1) 51% from imported raw surface water from the San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) through Oceanside’s Weese water treatment plant, (2) 36% from treated drinking water purchased directly from the SDCWA blended with water from the Carlsbad Desalination Plant, and (3) 13% from Oceanside’s Mission Basin Desalting Facility (MBDF), which treats brackish groundwater from wells located in the San Luis Rey River valley.
