The City of Thousand Oaks Water, under the City Department of Public Works, provides water for about 53,422 residents living in the area of Thousand Oaks, California. Established in 1964, the City of Thousand Oaks Water Department is currently obtaining its supply from the State Water Project, which is imported from Northern California’s Lake Oroville (surface water) through the Calleguas Municipal Water District (Calleguas). The City also uses additional water from the Calleguas Lake Bard Water Filtration Facility and Reservoir when the demand arises.
