The City of Dunlap Water, a public community water system under the City Utility, provides water to about 7,675 residents living in Dunlap, the county seat of Sequatchie County, Tennessee. Founded in 1858, the Sequatchie River serves as the Dunlap Water System's water supply. The Sequatchie River's beginnings are in Cumberland County's Grassy Cove Community. East of Dunlap, off Old York Highway, the river flows through the heart of the Sequatchie Valley, where the surface water is drawn from.
