The City of Freeport Water, under the City Water and Sewer Department, provides water for about 25,648 residents living in the Freeport area, Illinois. Established in 1835, the Freeport Water Department obtains its supply from a groundwater source, municipal wells drilled around the water treatment plant drawing from a shallow bedrock aquifer called the Saint Peter Sandstone, and the much deeper Ironton-Galesville and Cambrian-Trempealeau aquifers.

Lead Report (2019)

B

WaterZen Rating

Lead levels in the drinking water of some cities across the United States are too high, potentially creating public-health issues for the people living in those areas.

What about Freeport Water? How much lead is in your drinking water? And how do those levels compare to other cities in the state? We examined data from hundreds of cities across the nation to understand and grade your water quality.

As you can see, Freeport Water received an above-average grade because the amounts of contaminants found in the water supply were lower than most other water providers we've analyzed.
