The Golden State Water Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American States Water Company, provides water services to about 6,180 residents living in the Apple Valley area of San Bernardino County. Founded in 1929, Golden State Water Company's Apple Valley South Water System collects groundwater from the Mojave River Basin-Alto Sub-Basin, the upper portion of the Mojave River, and purchases water from the Liberty Utilities Company. The water is disinfected with chlorine and treated with fluoride to promote oral health.
