Highway 71 Water District No. 1, a regional water supply services district, provides for about 6,250 residents living in Alma, Crawford County, Arkansas. Founded in 2009, Highway 71 Water District No. 1 System currently purchases its supply from Fort Smith Water Utilities, whose primary water source is the Frog Bayou Watershed on the Boston Mountains. Additionally, raw water is treated at the Fort Smith Water Treatment Plant, Lee Creek Watershed, while runoff water is stored on the 1,400-acre surface of Lake Forth Smith.
