The City of Hoopeston Water supplies water to about 5,802 residents living in the Hoopeston area of Vermilion County. Hoopeston Water Department collects water from three wells drawing from the Mahomet River Valley (TEAYS) Aquifer. This source is an unconsolidated sand and gravel aquifer about 40 feet thick, and groundwater is estimated to flow from the North Fork of the Vermilion River. The water is disinfected with chlorine to control microbial growth.
