The Illinois American Water - Peoria District, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), provides water for about 121,478 residents living in the Peoria area, including Bartonville, Bellevue, Rome, Chillicothe, Dunlap and West Peoria. Established in 1985, the Illinois American Water - Peoria District collects water from both groundwater and surface water. Four major sources supply water to the distribution system – the Illinois River, and three well sites, which draw groundwater from the San Koty Aquifer.
