The Lake Hemet Municipal Water District (LHMWD) provides water for about 50,001 residents living in the area of Hemet, California. Established in 1955, the Lake Hemet Municipal Water District is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of sources: ten wells that pump groundwater from the San Jacinto River Basin; and purchased surface water from the Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD), which is imported from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California through its Colorado River Aqueduct and its connections to the State Water Project.
