The Village of Mount Prospect Water, a public community water system under the Village Department of Public Works - Water/Sewer Division, provides water for about 41,492 residents living in the area of Mount Prospect, Illinois. Established in 1917, the Village of Mount Prospect Water System is currently obtaining its supply via purchase from the Northwest Suburban Municipal Joint Action Water Agency (NSMJAWA) reservoirs through the City of Chicago’s Jardine Water Purification Plant, which uses a surface water source, Lake Michigan.
