The Pocahontas Water Works supplies water to about 7,752 residents living in the Pocahontas area of Randolph County. The Pocahontas Water Works, founded in 1970, collects water from the Black River, a surface water source, and buys additional water from the Lawrence County Regional Water District (LCRWD), which also buys from the Northeast Arkansas Public Water Authority (NEAPWA). The LCRWD pumps water from the Gunter Sandstone and Roubidoux Formation Aquifers, while the NEAPWA obtains surface water from the Spring River.
