The South Hadley Fire District 1, a public community water system under the District Water Department, provides water for about 14,450 residents living in the area of South Hadley, a town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Established in 1858, the South Hadley Fire District 1 Water System currently obtains its supply via purchase directly from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). The MWRA water comes from a surface water source, the Quabbin Reservoir. Additionally, when the demand arises, water from the Ware River can be added to the supply.
