The Village of Williamsville Water supplies water to about 6,091 residents living in the Williamsville area of Sangamon County, Illinois. Water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. The Williamsville Water Department purchases water from the City of Springfield, which treats surface water from Lake Springfield and the South Fork of the Sangamon River during high-demand seasons. The Lake covers 3,965 acres, a 265-square-mile watershed, and Sugar and Lick Creek drainage areas. The water undergoes a series of treatment processes, including the addition of fluoride to prevent tooth decay and chlorine with ammonia to control microbial growth.
