The City of Miami Beach Water, under the City Public Works Department, provides water for about 90,000 residents living in the Miami Beach area, Florida. Established in 1915, the City of Miami Beach purchases its drinking water from the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department (WASD). Miami-Dade’s source of water is groundwater from wells. The wells withdraw primarily from the Biscayne Aquifer with a limited number of wells withdrawing from the Floridan Aquifer.
