The City of North Port Utilities, a public community water system under the City Services Department - Utilities, provides water for about 48,873 residents living in the area of North Port, Florida. Established in 1959, the City of North Port Utilities is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of water sources: the Myakkahatchee Creek, known as the Big Slough watershed, six intermediate aquifer ground water wells, water from the Cocoplum waterway, and purchased treated surface water from the Peace River via Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority.
