The Town of Surfside Water supplies water to about 6,000 residents of Surfside in Miame-Dade County, Florida. Water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. Surfside Water Department purchases water from the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD), which draws primarily from the Biscayne Aquifer, formed of a porous rock below the land surface in South Florida. Some of the WASD wells pump from the Floridan Aquifer, and water from all sources is treated at Miami-Dade Water's three regional water treatment plants before distribution.
