The Chesterfield Township Water, a public community water system under the Township Department of Public Works, provides water for about 41,650 residents living in the area of Chesterfield, Michigan. Established in 1842, the Chesterfield Township Water System is currently obtaining its supply from two locations: Detroit’s Lake Huron Treatment Plant north of Port Huron and purchase of treated water from the City of Detroit. This water is a blend of lower Lake Huron watershed and Detroit River situated within the Lake St. Clair, Clinton River, Detroit River, Rouge River, Ecorse River, in the U.S., and parts of the Thames River, Little River, Turkey Creek and Sydenham watersheds in Canada.
