The Redford Township Water, under the Township Department of Water and Sewer, provides water for about 48,362 residents living in the area of Redford Township, Michigan. Established in 1833, the Redford Township Water is currently obtaining its supply via purchase from the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), which uses a surface water source, Detroit River, situated within the Lake St. Clair, Clinton River, Detroit River, Rouge River and Ecorse River watersheds in the U.S. and parts of the Thames River, Little River, Turkey Creek and Sydenham watersheds in Canada. Water from Lake Huron can also be added to GLWA’s supply, whenever the demand arises.
