The City of Wixom Water, a public community water system operated by an independent contractor supervised and overseen by the City Department of Public Works, provides water to about 13,928 residents living in Wixom, a city in Oakland County, Michigan. Founded in 1957, the City of Wixom Water System currently obtains its supply from a blend of sources: the main source is surface water purchased from Great Lakes Water Authority-Lake Huron Treatment Facility from Huron Lake; and a standby ground water source from two wells, approximately 100 feet-deep pumped from the Huron River and Rouge River watershed.
