The City of International Falls Water supplies water to about 5,737 residents living in the International Falls area of Koochiching County. International Falls Water Department collects surface water from the Rainy River. The water undergoes a series of treatment processes, including the addition of polymer, chlorine, and ammonia for disinfection, soda ash, and zinc polyphosphate for pH and corrosion control, and fluoride for oral protection. The treated water is stored in a ground storage reservoir.
